From January to May 2023, I studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, focusing on Danish furniture design. Through museum and showroom visits, I explored the work of leading Danish designers and was assigned to design a Danish-inspired, flat-packed plywood chair.

After examining hundreds of chairs across Scandinavia, I found myself most drawn to rocking chairs. Their relative rarity and inherent sense of playfulness resonated with me. To emphasize this playful character, I took inspiration from Hans Wegner’s 1944 CH410 “Peter’s Chair,” particularly its interlocking, puzzle-like construction. I aimed to incorporate that sense of intuitive assembly—appearing almost simple enough for a child to put together—into my flat-packed design.
