In Fall 2023, two classmates and I were tasked with designing and manufacturing a product made from diverted materials for sale at a local market. The proceeds from the market sales were reinvested into our studios and workshops to purchase additional machines, tools, and supplies. Together with my teammates, Jessie and Sean, I designed, produced, and sold 15 ReFold Totes. The ReFold Tote is a picnic blanket constructed from reclaimed moving blankets and surplus textiles from Cotopaxi that folds and secures into a tote bag featuring two large pockets. The only new component purchased for the ReFold Tote was the magnetic buckles used to fasten the closure.
